Hello Canada,
Last week I received an e-mail from Deborah Bellocchi-Covella and I wanted to share it with you. Deborah is a huge Sandals supporter and a great agent in Ottawa; here is what she sent me:
“I just had to send this quote from a client of mine who just came back from vacationing in Punta Cana. I tried to convince them to go to Sandals again since that is where they got married a few years ago but they really didn’t want to spend the extra money even when I showed them the difference was not that much. Well what can you do, you do your best to sell but in the end it is the client’s decision. I had to laugh when I read your blog tonight because I wish they would have listened to me in the first place and just spent the extra amount but at least they learned their lesson and now they will never go anywhere but Sandals”!!
“The resort was gorgeous!! but the food wasn't so great I was sick for most of my trip. It probably didn't help that our last vacation was with Sandals, from now on will be sticking with them.”
“This just showed me how selling Sandals as a culinary experience is a great way to sell. Most people want to enjoy the food when they go away and food is so important to our clients even though sometimes they don’t even realize it”!
Thank you Deborah for sending this to me as it really does go to show you that “you get what you pay for”. Does anyone else have any similar stories to share? How important is the quality of food when you are selling a vacation? Do you think you can justify the extra cost to your clients’ when it comes to quality? Do you think the number of restaurants a resort has will make a difference in closing a sale? We not only give our guests quality but we also offer quantity; some of our resorts have up to 16 restaurants to choose from so your clients’ can dine at a different restaurant every night.
I personally like the finer things in life, if it means paying more I have absolutely no problem with that as I know what I am going to get and I won’t be disappointed. In my opinion, going on vacation and being sick for an entire week does not make for a great vacation and it does not appeal to me.
Remember to send me your thoughts or your comments! I will be drawing and posting the May winner on June 5th. Stay tuned and good luck!!
The more comments you write the more chances you have to win a 4 night trip to a Sandals or a Beaches Resort!
Wishing you all a fantastic day!!

Grand Opening - Beaches Turks & Caicos
June 4, 2009

Hello Canada,

A few weeks ago Hollywood headed to the Caribbean as Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages & Spa celebrated the official Grand Opening of its new, all suite resort expansion – the Italian Village and enhanced Pirates Island Water Park. Beaches Resorts, voted the World’s Best Family Resorts 11 years in a row, hosted a four day getaway filled with parties, special events, music, live performances and of course, lots of fun in the sun! The Grand Opening Celebration was host to Hollywoods hottest celebs, including Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli, Jenna Elfman, Cheryl Hines, Bethenny Frankel, Jason Mesnick and Molly Melaney, Debi Mazar, Robert Buckly, Joey Fatone, Lou Ferrigno, Catherine Bell, Elizabeth Rohm and many more.
I asked one of our top agents, John Wood to send me back his feedback of the resort and of the Grand Opening and here is what he had to say: :
Describe your experience of the grand opening event and how it compares to others you have been to:
“The grand opening was spectacular, truly done with style and elegance. The fire-works were impressive to say the least, a fabulous finale.
The number and stature of dignitaries that took the time to attend the event shows how critical the Stewart's and their team are to the economies of the Caribbean. Certainly I have never attended an event anywhere with such an esteemed attendee list.
I was honoured to have been invited’.
What was your favorite part of the event?
“My favourite part of the event was when Beaches was recognized as a six star”.
Describe your experience of Beaches Turks & Caicos:
“The venue is breathtaking, the water practically glows.
Service, food, activities, attention to detail Beaches Turks has it all. This is one of the few resorts that my wife would like to go back to....she's kind of fussy.
As a mature couple we don't normally stay at family resorts. The thoughtful way in which the resort is designed truly permits the typical adult only type client to enjoy the property.
-We had a blast in the waterpark
-I played Xbox 360 both in the room and at the location set up in the Waterpark area.
-We ate at the 50's style restaurant several times...and it's sure kids focussed.

The rooms in the Italian Village are spectacular. The furnishings, design, layout, view ...everything about them is flawless and luxurious. You can't help but relax and feel spoiled rotten.
My idea of a dream vacation”!!!!!
John Wood is the owner of Durham Travel and he is our number one Royal Plantation agent in Canada! He is very well travelled so receiving his feedback meant a lot to me.
Next week many of you will be going on the fam to visit this property, please be sure you send me your comments. If anyone else has ever experienced a Beaches Resort send me your thoughts and comments.
Remember the more comments you post the more chances you have of winning a 4 night trip to a Sandals or a Beaches Resort.
Congratulations to Monica Hill!! Monica’s name was drawn for the month of May and now she has the difficult task of choosing a resort to go to for four nights. Congrats!!
I will be on vacation until June 24 and I will not be posting anything until I return.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
Gina

The Sandals Brand
June 28, 2009

Hello Canada,
What does branding mean? As defined in the dictionary, branding is a trademark or a distinctive name identifying a product or manufacturer. Sandals Resorts spends over $50 million per year in advertising our brands and we are one of the most recognized and respected brands in the travel community!
Why should you partner with Sandals Resorts? Why should YOU be loyal to Sandals Resorts in this highly challenging and competitive market? YOU should partner with Sandals Resorts because of the powerful brand recognition that comes with partnering with The World’s Best Caribbean Luxury Resorts!  We have eight business development managers that are located across the country and they are dedicated to YOU and to your business. Contact your local BDM and set up marketing meeting and they will help you put a plan together in order for you to grow your business; we are the only Caribbean hotelier that has Business Development Managers located coast to coast, this to me shows our commitment to you!  Now let’s look at loyalty...We have been in business for over 28 years and our Chairman, Mr. Gordon ”Butch” Stewart has never once thought of cutting out any of our partners as many other hotels and airlines have. We continue to pay you high commission for your bookings, we also provide you with the tools you need in order to grow your business with us, such as:  collateral, logo usage, familiarization trips, marketing dollars, certification workshops, and the dedication of your Business Development Manager. Now all of the things that we do for YOU, our partners, confirms our commitment, dedication and our loyalty!
Here is what our brand does for YOU:
A bride-to-be knows who Sandals Resorts is, but there is a very good chance that she has no idea who you are. Now by associating yourself with Sandals Resorts, you have made the connection with the bride. In other words, in the eyes of the bride, you are the Sandals representative... so it does not really matter if she knows you or your company, what matters is that The Sandals name drove her business to you. Like I mentioned, we spend over $50 million dollars a year to create brand awareness and all you have to do is take advantage of the benefits that come along with it.
Please let me know how we have made an impact on you or your business. When you hear the Sandals name what comes to mind? How has the Sandals Brand affected your bottom line?
As you know I love hearing from you so please send me your thoughts and or your comments.
Wishing all of you a wonderful day!!!
Gina
