SANDALS NEGRIL IS SECOND IN RESORT PORTFOLIO TO BECOME A NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC DIVE CENTER

Sandals Resorts International (SRI), parent company of Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts, has received numerous accolades for its comprehensive dive programming on some of the most pristine reefs in the Caribbean. Adding to the list, PADI has now recognized Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa as a PADI National Geographic Dive Center.  Sandals Negril is the second resort within the SRI portfolio to receive this honor, following in the footsteps of Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa.  PADI National Geographic Dive Center status is granted to Five Star Dive centers and resort facilities that excel in providing dive consumers with a full range of National Geographic Diver Education Programs, while actively promoting the benefits of environmental awareness and responsibility. Highly-trained dive instructors and impeccable customer service performance are also representative of this award.

The PADI National Geographic Diver program is a PADI certification course now available to guests of Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa who wish to become dive explorers, adventurers and conservationists.  National Geographic Diver participants will observe and explore life as an underwater scientist by studying Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation, Coral Reef Conservation, Fish Identification, and underwater photography.  A supplement to PADI Open Water Certification, the program is a four-day intensive course that focuses on an exploration project, which includes identifying important aquatic plant and animal species and navigating by using a compass and natural references.  The price for the full course program at Sandals Negril, including PADI Open Water Diver certification and the National Geographic Diver Course, is $550 per person.   For guests who are already Open Water certified, the National Geographic Diver specialty program is $250.

Guests who are looking to become scuba certified while on resort but don’t wish to take the full National Geographic Diver program also have the option to obtain certification from the PADI or NAUI (the National Association of Underwater Instructors). Certification courses are available for a wide range of levels, from Scuba Diver all the way to Divemaster. Guests who wish to enjoy scuba diving at Sandals Resorts can expect the best equipment and instruction, including SCUBAPRO® BCDs & regulators, Newton Dive Boats, professional instruction, guided dives and a myriad of dive sites, including wrecks, reefs and walls.

Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa features 222 luxurious rooms & suites and is located on Jamaica’s famous seven-mile beach. The resort is set amongst lush palm groves, powdery white sand beach and the calm aquamarine Caribbean Sea, and offers some of the best sunsets in the Caribbean, as well as a wide range of water sports to choose from.
